this one goes out to Mommy

serenadeI was totally serenaded last night. By a two year old. ^^ It was all so unexpected. :)

I was up on our back porch. Mateo was down in the yard digging in his sandbox (as per usual). He saw me up there in the window (Juliet style, ya know). And all the sudden, he stops, makes direct eye contact, and starts singing “Bow, Wow, Wow.” Now for those of you not  in the know — here are the lyrics to that lil’ ditty:

Bow Wow Wow, Whose dog are thou?

I am (insert name)’s dog

Bow Wow Wow

When Mateo got to the (insert name)  portion, he starts pointing at me (again, with the direct eye contact) and sings, “I am MOMMY’s dog, bow wow, wow.” And THEN, wait for it…

He POINTS at me (again) and shouts, “Happy Birthday, Mommy.” (not my birthday).

Oh, that little man knows how to make a lady feel special. :)toddler serenade

So adorable!! You are one amazing mom with one fantastic little boy. ;D

    Kate x

    • Thanks Kate. :) It’s so fun now that he’s all personality. It’s tiring being a mom, but these moments of hilarity just bring it all back back to where it’s at! ;)

  2. Awwwww. He’s a momma’s boy. I love it. I’ve never heard that song before… I’m hoping he’ll sing it for us one day! xxoo

    • yay! I couldn’t wait for the first “I love you” (so great)….and now I’m getting songs! Whohoo! :) He learned the song in his little kindermusik class some months back. :)

  3. Angela:

I knew he was a hopeless romantic in the making. ;)

  4. Catherine:

Awesome! Way to make mommy feel special, Mateo! Serenade away!

For the last two months since my birthday, every time we went to the park, the kids would immediately make me a sand cake (complete with woodchip candles) and then sing happy birthday to me. Most of the time, Aravis would sing happy birthday (singing in repeat only the first line) and then when she couldn’t figure out how to transition to the next line, she would stop singing, at which point Everett would chime in, and belt out “Happy birthday to Momma!” I could get used to having a birthday for 2 months… :)

  5. Catherine:

The kids were looking at their own baby pictures and suddenly requested to see pictures of Mateo! I told them I didn’t have any, but then I remembered where I could find a few! We’ve been going through the blog and every time a picture of Mateo shows up, they yell MATEO!! Pure joy! :)

    • Omigoodness!!! LOVE IT! awww, that’s the cutest thing!!! So glad you commented here because now we have that memory saved. :)

      • What are you talking about? Of course you have photos of Mateo! Next time they ask, break out the water hose video!
